Why do our pets need surveillance screening?
We are often asked to determine a pet's age in "human years." We have provided the age chart below to find your pets age in "people" years and the screening testing recommended for each stage of his or her life.
Because our pets cannot speak, they are unable tell us if they feel sick or painful. We recommend examining young to middle aged pets at least yearly and geriatric pets at least every 6 months in order to aid in detecting underlying disease BEFORE it is clinically apparent. Pets will actively mask signs of illness until late in the course of disease. This stems from survival instincts in a pack or colony situation.
We believe the following testing program give us the best chance of helping your pet to live a long and healthy life.
Please note: These are approximations and may vary by gender, species and breed.
